Graduations Held For Carpentry Classes
The Alabama Home Builders Foundation recently held graduations for students completing its basic residential carpentry certificate courses that took place this fall at the Shelby County College and Career Center in Columbiana and the Limestone Career Technical Center in Athens.
The classes met twice a week throughout October and November. Thanks to the Foundation’s underwriting of the program, adult students were able to attend the classes free of charge. Through the program, they learned the fundan1entals of construction through classroom and hands-on work. Students completing the course earned a certification of completion and hours toward their National Center for Construction Education and Research certification.
The Foundation is working with career centers to offer additional carpentry courses in the spring, including a new site at the North Baldwin Center for Technology in Baldwin County where classes will take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from February 23 through April 14, 2016.
